Appliance Removal in Providence, RI
Replacing a fridge, cleaning out a basement washer and dryer, or getting rid of a dead water heater? We haul appliances out of homes and rentals in Providence and the surrounding towns.
Appliances we take
- Refrigerators and freezers (including chest freezers)
- Washers and dryers
- Stoves, ranges, wall ovens and dishwashers
- Water heaters and dehumidifiers
- Window and portable air conditioners
- Microwaves and small appliances
Fridges, freezers and AC units need extra handling
Appliances that hold refrigerant must have it recovered before they're scrapped, under the federal Clean Air Act Section 608 safe disposal rules (US EPA). That's why towns and disposal sites charge more for them. At the state's RIRRC facility in Johnston, appliances are free without refrigerant and $12 each with refrigerant (RIRRC FY27 fee schedule).
What the towns charge

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to empty and defrost the fridge first?
Please empty it. Defrosting a day ahead helps keep water off your floors.
Can you take a washer and dryer from the basement?
Yes. Let us know if they're still hooked up. Disconnecting gas lines should be done by a qualified person before pickup.
Is appliance disposal free anywhere in Rhode Island?
At RIRRC in Johnston, appliances without refrigerant are free and those with refrigerant are $12 each (FY27). Some towns also offer free or low-cost pickup; see our town guide.
